The Coordinating Headquarters will work out the strategy of the actions in carrying out the transition to a parallel functioning of the energy systems of the CIS and Baltic member-countries with the energy systems of the countries of Western and Northern Europe, and will advance the synchronization project at the political and commercial levels. The headquarters will also coordinate technical and organizational measures in the RAO Unified Energy Systems of Russia, which ensure the preparation for the synchronized work with the energy associations of Europe.
The parallel work of the energy systems implies the synchronization of the energy systems in the frequency in alternating current networks, which makes it possible to freely transfer electric energy along inter-system (inter-state) high voltage transmission lines.
This kind of the functioning of energy systems considerably raises the reliability of the functioning of electric energy complexes, the press release explains.
At the present time, ten out of the twelve national energy systems in the CIS countries are working in a parallel mode; apart from that, the unified energy systems of the CIS countries are working in parallel with the energy systems of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
"The implementation of the project for the transition to the parallel functioning of the energy systems of the CIS and Baltic countries with the energy systems of the countries of Western and Northern Europe is one of the priority trends in the activity of the RAO Unified Energy Systems of Russia," the press release points out.
