PARIS, February 24, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Andrei Nizamutdinov/. The Russian rouble will become fully convertible in 2007, Russia's Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref said on Tuesday, at a meeting with businessmen in Paris.

According to the minister, full conversion of the Russian national currency will be made possible by a new law on currency regulation and currency control adopted last year, and other measures to reform the country's banking and financial sector.

Gref emphasised that the Russian law on currency regulation is one of the most liberal. "I can assure you that it is far more liberal than the French law," the Russian minister said.
