RUSSIA & BRAZIL THROUGH WITH PARTNERSHIP PROGRAMME, BLUEPRINTING ANOTHER

BRASILIA, February 18, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent Vladimir Stepanov) - Ad hoc teams of the Russo-Brazilian intergovernmental commission for commercial, economic, research and technological cooperation opened sessions in the Brazilian capital, to last into February 20. The agenda includes mutual trade, and partnership in the economy, civil-oriented space efforts, power industry, agriculture, military and civil technology, and research.

Work on a bilateral two-year programme for research and technological partnership finished last year. An ad hoc team for such partnership is now blueprinting another programme, expected to be signed autumn next, says team leader Andrei Kulagin, Russia's Deputy Minister of Industry, Research and Technologies.

Russian-Brazilian partnership is long established in nano- and bio-technologies, pharmacology, and computer hard- and software R&D and manufacturing. Now, Russia intends to spread partnership to metrology and certain other fields, and will make respective offers. There is another matter in the agenda foreground-preparations for a Russian technological exposition is Sao Paulo, October next into November, Mr. Kulagin said to newsmen.
