The most promising developments by Russian aircraft manufacturers are under consideration already now, said OAO Aeroflot-Russian Airlines deputy director general for long-term planning Sergei Kharitonov. He spoke at a Tuesday forum Aeroflot's Policy on the Russian Air Transportation Market Within the Transportation Strategy of the Russian Federation.
Interregional operations are making use of mostly two planes, the An-24 and Yak-40. The former will be beyond its service life in 2005 and the latter will remain in service until 2007-2008.
Today Aeroflot is in need of 25 to 30 good, functional short-haul planes, 50 to 60 before 2010.
