"The Russian Government will consider the question of hosting EXPO-2015," he said referring to his talk with Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Boris Alyoshin, with him he met Friday morning.
Jiangmin said he had been in Russia in 2001 and 2002 and had an impression that the country "shows economic progress, which is a positive development both for Russia and its neighbors, including China."
He emphasized the fact that the 153 years of experience in holding international exhibitions give a powerful impetus to the economy of a state in which they take place.
Secretary General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, for his part, said that "all cities which hosted EXPO have achieved big economic progress."
The voting on a candidate host country for EXPO-2015 will be held in 2007.
