MOSCOW, February 12 (RIA Novosti) - Russian will pursue the policy to support the Russian business in Iraq, said Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov.

"The policy oriented to supporting the Russian business in Iraq is conducted on a permanent basis; there's a special instruction of the president," Ivanov told journalists.

"Our aim is that our companies could contribute to Iraq's restoration, as political and security conditions are gradually created," Ivanov said.

In his words, Russian companies that traditionally worked in Iraq and know the conditions of that region, when the necessary conditions are created, will be able to continue work to restore the country.

The minister recalled that an inspection commission that went to Iraq on an instruction by the UN Secretary General is working there.

"We hope that, as the process of restoration of Iraq's sovereignty is being sped up, and the situation is improving from the point of view of security, the conditions will be created for companies that have traditionally worked in Iraq to be able to continue their work and participate in the restoration of Iraq's economy," the minister said.
