MOSCOW, February 10 (RIA Novosti) - A delegation from the Chinese province of Heilongjiang (borders on the Amur region of the Russian Federation) visited the Bureya hydroelectric power plant (GES) on Monday to receive information on the possibility of direct energy supplies to the Xunke district beginning in 2005, a GES press release said.

The delegation included top officials of the Syrius trade and industrial development company and leaders of the Xunke district.

Yuri Gorbenko, the director general of the Bureya GES, explained to the Chinese delegation that the technical possibility of exporting energy exists but, because of the deficit of cheap electricity in the Russian Far East, the export of energy cannot occur until after the last (sixth) unit of the hydroelectric plant is commissioned (scheduled for 2008). In addition, Mr Gorbenko said the Bureya GES is a station of federal importance, and the electricity it generates is supplied to the federal wholesale market.

The Inter-RAO enterprise is engaged in the realization of the products generated above the plan, and the potential purchasers of the Bureya hydroelectric power station should contact it.
