RUSSIA'S GOLD AND FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES REACH A RECORD HIGH - $84 BILLION

MOSCOW, February 4. /RIA Novosti corespondent/ On Tuesday, Central Bank head Sergei Ignatyev informed the Russian president about the state of the country's gold and foreign exchange reserves.

"Over the past year, foreign exchange reserves at current rates have grown by $29 billion and continue to grow. In January this year, they have grown by another $7 billion", said the Central Bank head. In his words, "as of February 1, the reserves stood at $84 billion. This is a maximum unprecedented in the history of Russia and the USSR," stressed the Central Bank head.
