They discussed priority spheres of Japanese investments into the economy of Yugra (a region in the north-east of European Russia), first of all, into energy, oil and gas enterprises and projects on the development and mining of polar quartz, the press service of the Khanty-Mansi governor told RIA Novosti.

"The meeting focused on Russian-Japanese cooperation in the implementation of the Polar Quartz project," stressed Yevgeny Markov, the director of the Khanty-Mansi investment department, who participated in the meeting.

According to him, Yugra experts have been cooperating with Sumitomo Corporation over the last four months.

"We have achieved serious progress and today Mr. Kato officially claimed the wish and readiness of his corporation to invest into the Polar Quartz project," Markov stressed.
