Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov has signed the decision On the Non-Use of the Import Customs Duty Rate With Regard to Aluminum Oxide Different from Manufactured Corundum, RIA Novosti learnt at the Government Information Department on Friday.
"The decision shall become effective one month upon its official publication for a term of nine months," reads the document.
Earlier, Kasyanov signed the decision abolishing the export duty on non-alloyed aluminum and aluminum alloys. The duty on the export of primary aluminum is fixed at 5 percent of the customs value.
These measures have been taken as recommended by the commission for protective measures in foreign trade and customs-tariff regulation as a compensation because, since January 1, 2004, Russian manufacturers have begun paying 18-percent value-added tax instead of the earlier zero tax rate.
