MOSCOW, January 26 (RIA Novosti) - Vice Premier Vladimir Yakovlev advocates the creation of special economic zones for the travel industry in Russia. Speaking at the Russian president's conference with his cabinet members, Yakovlev described the conference of Russian towns union he had taken part in.

The development of tourism was in the focus of that conference, according to the vice premier. "It was about the Golden Ring, which includes 40 cities and towns in 5 regions of Russia," Yakovlev went on to say.

He believes that "free economic zones created in the regions frequently visited by tourists." In Yakovlev's opinion, these should include Primorye (the Maritime territory in Russia's Far East), the Black Sea coast in the Caucasus, the Kaliningrad Region on the Baltic Sea, and Russia's Northwest.
