LAST YEAR SENDS RUSSIAN INDUSTRIAL OUTPUT 7% UP

MOSCOW, JANUARY 21, RIA NOVOSTI - Russia's industrial output increased by 7 per cent last year, as against 2002, reports the State Statistical Committee. December 2003 alone sent the output 7.9 per cent up, as against the same month of the preceding year.

Engineering industry and metal procession were the greatest success, with the year's 9.4 per cent increase, and spectacular 19 per cent for December. Fuel industry had a 9.3 per cent increase for the year and 8.2 for December, and iron-and-steel industry, 8.9 and 9.5 per cent, respectively.

Flour and mixed fodder output and cereal procession, on the contrary, shrank last year. Same about light, printing and microbiological industries.
