KIEV, January 21 (RIA Novosti correspondent Yevgeny Aleksandrov) - The Ukrainian government is to propose Russia improving mechanisms of cooperation, Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovich said at a cabinet meeting in Kiev on Wednesday.

According to him, Ukraine considers Russia the most important strategic partner. In 2003 the Russian-Ukrainian trade turnover has increased by more than one-third and totaled 15 billion dollars, the Prime Minister noted.

"We have all reasons to introduce our proposals and to improve relations with our nearest neighbors," Yanukovich said. The Russian and Ukrainian governments are preparing a regular meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission, he added.
