DAVOS (Switzerland), January 21 (RIA Novosti correspondents Yekaterina Andrianova and Sergei Kudasov) - Only serious economic contacts can normalize relations between Georgia and Russia, the newly elected President of Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili, told RIA Novosti.

"If serious economic relations are established and if the Russian capital seriously enters Georgia, this will give us the possibility to go over from emotional extremes and impulsive steps to real work, because where there is a serious capital, there are fewer chances for adventurism and aggression," said Saakashvili who attends the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

At this forum Mikhail Saakashvili intends to meet with the Russian presidential adviser on economic issues, Andrei Illarionov, with the head of the RAO Unified Energy Systems of Russia, Anatoly Chubais, and with LUKoil president Vagit Alekperov.

According to Saakashvili, Georgia is ready for an active dialogue with Russia concerning the fight against terrorism. "I think that terrorists are a much greater threat to Georgia than to Russia, because we are nearer to them and are weaker. Therefore, Georgia is really interested in solving this problem," he noted.

"We should learn by our own past mistakes and not make them again. We want to have normal relations with Russia and, integrating into Europe, we would certainly not like to estrange Russia from us," added Saakashvili.

Georgia is ready to adopt Russian experience in combating corruption, he said. This is an absolutely new trend. Nobody in Georgia was ever imprisoned for corruption, noted the Georgian President. In this sense, Georgia is ready also to learn from Russia how to introduce proper order, he said.
