MOSCOW, January 20 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian oil company Rosneft denies statements by some media on the alleged talks on the sale of its share in the development of the Kurmangazy oilfield (on the Kazakh shelf of the Caspian Sea) to the French oil company Total, Rosneft's spokesman Dmitry Panteleyev told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

In this case Rosneft as a company authorized by the state to develop the oilfield cannot sell its share without the state sanctions, Panteleyev noted.

On Tuesday several media reported on Total's proposal to Kazmunaigaz (Kazakhstan) and Rosneft to purchase their shares.

Kazmunaigaz and Rosneft are developing the Kurmangazy oilfield on the parity basis.
