The exposition's opening ceremony will be attended by Vice-Premier and Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev who is heading the Russian delegation in Berlin.
Prior to the start of the Green Week's opening Alexei Gordeyev expressed confidence that "the participation of the Russian firms will be helpful in promoting their successful cooperation with foreign partners and in attracting serious foreign investments into the agri-biz sector of Russia." "The Russian standards in the sphere of agricultural products are higher than in Europe and this advantage must be preserved," the minister said.
A round-table discussion on the theme "A new role of Russia in the world agricultural trade - prospects for partnership in conditions of fair competition" will be held on Friday. The discussion has been organized within the framework of the international agricultural forum "East-West." The separate presentations of Russia's regions, in particular the Krasnodar Territory, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area and the Altai Territory, will be held in Berlin on Friday.
Over 400 leading enterprises, organizations and firms from 19 Russian regions will demonstrate their possibilities during the Green Week in the capital of Germany.
They will display at the exhibition on the banks of the Spree River the Russian foodstuffs, goods and technologies: meat, fish and milk products, confectionery, bakery products , the liquors and alcoholic drinks, alcoholic-free brands of bear, as well as flaxen goods and various souvenirs.
The mineral-chemical Yevrokhim company and the regions of the Russian North will be represented at the exhibition in Berlin for the first time ever.
Russia offers at the Green Week Exhibition in Berlin a large cultural program: to be held are the Days of Russian regions and presentations of firms which are taking part in the exhibition, as well as performances by Russian folklore companies. Besides a restaurant of the national cuisine Samovar will be open in the Russian pavilion.
The exhibition-cum-fair Green Week is being held in Berlin for the 69th time. This year 1,600 exhibitors from 56 states are taking part in it. The exhibition is to last till January 25.
