Indonesia and many other archipelago nations often face powerful earthquakes, as they are located in the Ring of Fire - an area around much of the rim of the Pacific Ocean with high seismic activity. The last major earthquake to hit the region was last month when a 7.2-magnitude tremor occurred, but, fortunately, it did not trigger a tsunami.

A powerful tremor has been registered in the Molucca Sea, 143 kilometres west of Ternate, Indonesia. The epicentre of the quake is located at a depth of 64 kilometres. So far, there have been no reports of any damages or casualties, caused by the earthquake.
