On 1 February, the Myanmar military seized power, arresting the head of the government Aung San Suu Kyi, as well as President Win Myint and other senior officials. The armed forces accused the National League for Democracy (NLD) of voter fraud during the November 2020 elections.

Sputnik is live from Yangon as protesters are holding another rally against the military takeover in Myanmar.

Over the course of continued anti-coup protests this month, demonstrators have clashed with police, who used water cannons and rubber-coated bullets to disperse the crowds.
