KABUL (Sputnik) - Earlier this month, a bomb planted on a motorcycle exploded during a wedding celebration in the south-eastern Afghan province of Khost, leaving at least four people dead and another eight injured. No group claimed the responsibility for the attack.

An explosion rocked Mujahid Square in the city of Khost in the east of Afghanistan on Wednesday, with witnesses reporting casualties.

The explosion occurred at 4:40 p.m. local time (13:40 GMT). The exact number of casualties is currently unknown.

Armed clashes and bomb blasts continue to impact Afghanistan despite the ongoing peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban in the Qatari capital of Doha.

The intra-Afghan negotiations began on 12 September, with both sides publicly expressing their desire to conclude a secure and long-lasting ceasefire to end Afghanistan's long-running conflict.
