The former South Korean celebrity was previously sentenced to five years in prison for aggravated rape.

New hearings in the case of former FT Island member Choi Jong-hoon took place on Wednesday, 18 March.

The artist is facing charges of illegally filming with a hidden camera and distributing the materials, as well as offering a bribe to a police officer.

Choi Jong-hoon allegedly offered two million won (about $1,593) to the officer at the scene of the crime to cover up intoxicated driving in 2016. The prosecution has demanded a sentence of 1.5 years in prison in addition to the five years he already has.

A legal representative of the former FT Island member admitted the charges of illegally-filmed and distributed footage, but not bribery. The ex-idol himself expressed deep regret over his behaviour.

On 4 December 2019, Choi was sentenced to five years in prison for the gang rape and filming of an intoxicated woman in Gangwon province in January 2016 and in Daegu in March 2016 together with Jung Joon-young. But on 5 December, both of them appealed to the court.

    The hearings continue.
