Indonesian police detained the country's Speaker of Parliament Setya Novanto over the probe into stolen $170 million in state funds.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Indonesia’s Speaker of Parliament Setya Novanto was detained by the country's police for questioning over the probe into stolen $170 million in state funds, local media have reported.

According to the Straits Times outlet, Novanto was detained as soon as the anti-graft agency said Sunday that his condition, following a car incident, did not require him staying in a hospital.

Novanto was hospitalized on Thursday after his vehicle crashed in Jakarta.

The speaker's first hearing is expected to take place on November 30.
