US Handles North Korea Crisis Like 'Spoiled Child' - Moscow
MOSCOW (Sputnik) According to the CBS News poll, 7 percent of those surveyed do not consider North Korean nuclear and missile program as a threat at all.

At the same time, just 35 percent of US citizens are confident in the ability of US President Donald Trump to handle the conflict against 61 percent those uneasy about his approach to the situation. The poll revealed that people's attitude heavily depended on the party affiliation, as the Republicans turned out to be much more favorable toward Trump than the Democrats.

The survey was conducted by phone among 1,111 adults nationwide on August 3-6.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula has become aggravated in recent months due to a series of missile launches and nuclear tests conducted by Pyongyang, all of which are claimed to be in violation of UN Security Council resolutions. Most recently, Pyongyang conducted tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles on July 4 and July 28.

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in called the North Korea a growing threat to the global security.

According to another poll carried out by the Chicago Council Survey on Global Affairs in July and released on Monday, 62 percent of respondents favor the use of US forces for defending South Korea.
