The pilot project, which will first be launched in the national capital Delhi, will begin by this month-end. But there is no timeline for its launch in other cities.

Users in Delhi, to begin with, have to simply type in keywords like “toilet,” “lavatory,” or the Hindi equivalent “shulabh”. The tool will provide results including toilets located in malls, hospitals, and gas stations. An Indian Ministry and Google are also planning to involve users for crowd-sourcing data on cleanliness of the facility, as well as notifying if the listed restroom is permanently closed.
The Indian Government has been actively looking for ways to inculcate a sense of cleanliness among i citizens. With great fanfare it launched the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Clean Indian Campaign, to sweep the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country clean of rubbish.
