A five-lane road section crashed into a sinkhole in front of a railway station in the Japanese city of Fukuoka, local media reported Tuesday.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — According to the NHK broadcaster, at first there emerged two holes that started stretching across the lines of the road, resulting in a 14-meter sinkhole. The construction works of the subway station have been underway the whole day under the site, when water suddenly began flowing in.

Nobody was injured, but the traffic and the passages for the pedestrians have been closed. Local police have launched an investigation of the incident.
