China could launch its Kuaizhou-1 carrier rocket before the end of the year, spokesperson for China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Lyu Xiaoge said.

BEIJING (Sputnik) – The solid-fuelled carrier rocket could be launched already next month, the spokesperson said on Wednesday as cited by the Xinhua news agency.

The Kuaizhou-1 rocket is designed to launch low-orbit satellites, primarily to monitor natural disasters.

In September, Chinese media reported that China was planning to launch its largest carrier rocket dubbed Long March 5, also known as Changzheng-5, in November.
