    A recruitment channel to terror groups from Central Asia to Russia was thwarted by security services en route.

    TASHKENT (Sputnik) — A recruitment channel to terror groups active in trans en route from Central Asia to Russia has been thwarted by security services, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) anti-terror body executive committee director Evgeny Sysoev said Thursday.

    “The security services of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan in 2015 have thwarted recruitment activities of international terror groups’ emissaries operating in international trains en route to Russia from the above states via Kazakhstan,” Sysoev said speaking at the security conference in Tashkent.

    The SCO is a political, economic and military alliance that includes Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Belarus, Mongolia, Iran, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan hold observer status in the organization, while Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Armenia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka hold status of dialogue partners. Pakistan, India and Iran have officially applied for SCO membership.
