Beijing and Manila agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) — Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is visiting China on October 18-21 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

“Both sides oppose violent extremism and terrorism in all forms and will cooperate in the fields of information exchange, capacity building, among others, in order to jointly prevent and address the threat of violent extremism and terrorism,” the ministry's statement said.

It also noted that both countries would strengthen efforts in the fight against drug crimes.

Duterte's current visit is his first visit to China during the tenure that started on June 30.
