New Delhi (Sputnik) — Indian security agencies have been unable to stop an increase in protests in Kashmir, which has crippled the valley for 103 consecutive days. More than 122 people have been detained by security agencies in last 24 hours for disrupting public order in different parts of Kashmir.
Meanwhile, India’s Central Reserve Police Force, deployed to curb protests in Kashmir, floated tender to procure full body suits to provide excellent protection against bricks, stones, iron rods, and canes. During the ongoing protests, more than 6000 personnel have been injured.
However, security personnel are concerned because according to estimates presented by Indian Army, 67 weapons, including AK-47s, INSAS, Carbine, SLR, and.303 rifles have been stolen from police personnel during 12 incidents.
“Rifle snatching incidents witnessed recently in the valley, particularly in south Kashmir, is a cause of concern," said Srinagar-based Army Commander Lt. Gen Satish Dua.
