According to the agency, at 7 p.m. local time (11:00 GMT) the eye of the typhoon was located at some 110 miles East Northeast from the northern country's province of Aurora.
The Philippines and surrounding regions are hit by dozens of tornadoes and typhoons annually during the monsoon season typically between June and December.
