Out of desperation, Abhai's Mother Sarita Takru in India tweeted to the External Affairs Minister seeking her help in securing a travel visa for her son in the US.
This dreadful wait must end. Please give my son Indian visa in US so his father may be cremated. Please support. Need empathy.

As she is known for her quick responses and speedy resolution in such cases of distress, she immediately directed the Indian embassy in the US to provide a visa to the grieving son to attend his father's funeral. "Our Embassy in US is closed for Vijaya Dashmi and Muharram. I have sent a message. We will open the Embassy and give a visa to your son," Swaraj tweeted.
Our Embassy has contacted your son in US. He should submit application and collect visa from our Consulate in Chicago.@saritakru @KaulAbhai

The minister's intervention prompted the Indian embassy to get in touch with Takru to share the contact details of Abhai to grant him a visa immediately.
@SushmaSwaraj, I thank you Mam for your humanitarian approach, the coordination and cooperation of your department, early redress. Thanks.
