UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) Chinese Premier Li Keqiang spoke out against the application of racial and cultural double standards in the global fight against terrorism, at the 71st General Assembly of the United Nations on Wednesday.

"Terrorism is the common enemy of mankind and must be combated resolutely. At the same time, double standards should not be applied. Terrorism should not be linked with certain countries, races or religions," Li said, addressing the general debate of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The Chinese premier also linked terrorism to insufficient development, and stressed the importance of an internationally united and concerted effort to bring an end to terrorism.

2016 has been marked by a spike in the number of terror attacks, with just a few of the large-scale attacks having taken place in Brussels, Nice, Baghdad and Orlando.
