S Korea, US to Hold Talks on Deterrence Strategy Against N Korea Nuclear Threat
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang agreed during a meeting in New York that the United States and China should boost nuclear arms control efforts on the Korean Peninsula, the White House said in a press release.

"Both leaders condemned North Korea’s September 9 nuclear test and resolved to strengthen coordination in achieving the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, including by invigorating cooperation in the United Nations Security Council and in law enforcement channels on North Korea," the release stated on Monday.

The two leaders, the release noted, agreed to continue efforts to narrow differences and expand cooperation on regional and global challenges.

Obama encouraged China to accelerate efforts to address industrial excess capacity and transition to a market-determined exchange rate, the release added.
