South Korea Nuclear Watchdog Approves Restart of 4th Kori NPP Reactor
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A total of 559 citizens joined the suit as plaintiffs, according to The Korea Herald.

"The commission gave a nod to the plan without properly considering the risk the new plants could pose in the region. It also failed to fulfill procedural requirements such as discussing with nearby residents in advance," Kim Yeong-hee, the lawyer representing the plaintiffs, was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

In June, the South Korean Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC) allowed the KHNP to build Shin Kori No.5 and No.6 nuclear reactors, including four currently under construction.

Total number of South Korea’s nuclear reactors aimed at energy use, will reach 30 after the construction of a new ones by 2021-2022.
