G20 Summit Participants Disagree Over Solving Migration Crisis
HANGZHOU (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Barack Obama met for bilateral talks on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Hangzhou on Monday, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

On Sunday, Putin and Obama had a few short conversations throughout the summit events and agreed to hold a separate meeting on Monday, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Also on Sunday, Obama said that the United States and Russia continued to support different sides in war-torn Syria and had differences over the peace process in the country.

Following this statement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US State Secretary John Kerry held a meeting on the sidelines of the summit. The two sides failed to bridge the differences between Russia and the United States on the Syrian issue.

The G20 summit, which kicked off on Sunday, is set to last through Monday, September 5.
