    The Chinese authorities detained 409 fugitives who were hiding outside the country as part of the Fox Hunt anti-corruption campaign, the Ministry of Public Security said Thursday.

    BEIJING (Sputnik) — According to the ministry, of the total number of fugitives captured since May, when the Fox Hunt 2016 campaign was launched, 272 were arrested abroad, while 137 were persuaded to return from 61 countries.

    Peru, the Philippines, South Korea, Cambodia and Ecuador are among the countries where the fugitives were caught.

    Over 850 fugitives are estimated to have been apprehended in course of the Fox Hunt campaign in 2015.
