A three-year-old child dropped a pistol, causing it to fire and striking Govidappa, a former employee of the Indian Space Research Organization, in the neck while he was visiting K. Muniraju, a Bharatiya Janta Party politician, at his Bengaluru residence.
The victim was taken to the hospital and is recovering from his wounds. The injuries were not life-threatening.
Meanwhile, upon inspection of the CCTV footage of Muniraju's house, it was found that his grandson had gotten hold of his licensed.32 pistol which he had left behind on a tea stand while using the washroom.
A case has been filed against Muniraju under the Arms Act for negligence and under section 338 of the Indian Penal Code for causing grievous injury.
