BANGKOK (Sputnik) – Up to 75 percent of votes have been counted, with 62 percent of them in favor of the new draft constitution, Thai PBS TV channel reported, citing the country’s electoral committee. About 32 percent of the counted votes are against the draft constitution.

The new draft constitution will give more power to the military-controlled government that has been in power since the May 2014 military coup in Thailand.
In addition, Thai voters were asked whether they agree to give green light to an emergency provision allowing appointment of a prime minister by the upper house of the parliament.
