The plane developed technical problems soon after the takeoff, both pilots ejected safely.

New Delhi (Sputnik) – A Hawk advance trainer Jet of Indian air force crashed around 11:00 am on Thursday in the Eastern Indian state of West Bengal. Both pilots are reported to have successfully ejected from the aircraft and are in good condition.

​According to the Indian Air force sources this was a routine sortie and the trainer jet developed a technical snag soon after it took off from Kalaikunda Air base.

A court of inquiry has been ordered by the Indian Air force into the incident.
