Kabul Expects Economic Ties With Moscow to Improve After Accession to WTO
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Anastasia Levchenko — The biggest challenge for Afghanistan as a new World Trade Organization’s (WTO) member is to transform its commitments into real policies, Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister for Trade Mozammil Shinwari told Sputnik in an interview.

"Being member of WTO brings challenges as well as benefits. After acceding to WTO, the biggest challenge we face is how to transform the commitments made during accession to implementable policies," Shinwari said.

He added that implementation of the undertaken commitments includes harmonizing national policies with the obligations as well as informing other WTO members about the process thus complying with the transparency requirements.

On Friday, Afghanistan officially joined the WTO, becoming the 164th member of the organization.
