    North Korean Defector Hides at South Korean Consulate in Hong Kong - Reports

    A North Korean has sought refuge at the South Korean consulate in Hong Kong, The South China Morning Post reports.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the newspaper, security has been enhanced at the consulate and counter-terrorism officers have been deployed in the area.

    Details of the defector’s background have not been revealed, but according to some government sources cited by The South China Morning Post on Thursday, the defector was a member of a North Korean delegation that had arrived for an academic competition at a local university.

    The Hong Kong office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry has been notified of the incident.
