Thank You Hungary: India thanks Budapest for Supporting Its Nuke Group Bids

India's Minister of External Affairs has expressed her gratitude to her Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó for his country's decision to back India’s membership of the Missile Technology Control Regime and Nuclear Supply Group.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met her counterpart Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, on Tuesday in Delhi.

"Sushma Swaraj thanked Hungary for its support to India's membership of MTCR and NSG. Both sides agreed that the tradition of high level visits should be maintained and there should be more Parliamentary exchanges," an official with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs told Sputnik.

On the economic side, both countries expressed satisfaction at the increasing trade which has reached US $600 million.  Hungary's Foreign Minister positively assessed Indian investment in Hungary, which has reached US $ 2 billion.  Currently around 15 Indian companies are active in Hungary.

Swaraj said that both countries should widen cooperation with respect to IT, education, innovation and R&D.

According to the External Affairs Ministry, "the Hungarian Foreign Minister listed four focus areas, such as the automotive industry, construction industry (especially affordable housing), water sanitation to assist the Clean India Mission and innovative industries."

Both foreign ministers discussed defense cooperation and Hungary's participation in Make in India. They also discussed the prospects of India-EU relations in the wake of Brexit.
