No Russian citizens were involved in the Dhaka cafe hostage crisis, the Russian embassy in the Bangladeshi capital said Saturday.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — On Friday, Daesh terrorist group reportedly claimed responsibility for hostage taking inside the cafe located in Dhaka's diplomatic quarter, which also reportedly left up to 40 people injured and two police officers dead.

Earlier in the day, Bangladeshi special forces have stormed the restaurant.

"The hostages have been freed with no Russian citizens among them," an embassy representative told RIA Novosti.
