Russia Interested in Opening of Japan's Medical Center in Far East

Russia is interested in the opening of Japan's medical center in the country's Far East, Yury Trutnev, the Russian deputy prime minister and presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, said Tuesday.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — On Monday, Trutnev started a three-day visit to Japan. The deputy prime minister is expected to hold meetings with a number of Japanese high-ranking officials and representatives of business community to discuss the development of bilateral ties.

"I think it is a very interesting proposal and we should attentively look at the coincidence of [the Russian and Japanese] legislation," Trutnev told reporters following the talks with JGC Corporation representatives, adding that the sides discussed the construction of the center to increase people's life expectancy.

During the talks, the Japanese side asked Russia to coordinate the medical standards for the construction of the center, as the medical regulations of the two countries diverge for each other.

According to Trutnev, this issue can be solved as Russia's law on the free port of Vladivostok has an amendment that the medical activity there can be regulated in a different way, in accordance with the Russian government's decisions.
