Tuesday’s blast in the Afghan capital of Kabul was most likely from a vehicle laden with explosives, the Russian Embassy’s press service in Kabul said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to Xinhua news agency, at least 40 people were injured due to the explosion and gunfire that entailed after the blast.

"As we’ve been told, this was most likely from a vehicle [laden] with explosives," the Russian Embassy’s press center told RIA Novosti.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said earlier the explosion targeted the offices of the country's main security agency. According to TOLO News, the blast took place in the Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area of the city, where the Ministry of Defense is located, and left at least 20 individuals dead or injured, though did not give exact details on the victims.
