"There are mechanisms for settling the conflict. There are four UN Security Council resolutions demanding the withdrawal of the Armenian occupying forces from Azerbaijan's territory, unfortunately, they are not being fulfilled," Aliyev said after a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
Aliyev added that he welcomed Russia's participation in settling the conflict.
"The Russian side took the initiative for the deescalation of the conflict. Russian President Vladimir Putin called me and the president of Armenia, expressed his concern and desire to help the parties to deescalate the situation. We reacted positively to these signals," Aliyev said.
"The settlement of the conflict is in Azerbaijan's interests and I'm sure, in the interests of Armenia. Russia is a neighbor, a friend of both countries — it is also interested in the quickest settlement," Aliyev added.
