KABUL(Sputnik) — Afghan security forces have killed at least 55 militants, including jihadists of the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) and al-Qaeda groups, during military operations in the past 24 hours, according to the country’s Defense Ministry’s statement, cited by Sputnik.
According to the document, 14 al-Qaeda militants were eliminated in the southeastern province of Paktika, while 19 Daesh jihadists were killed in the eastern province of Nangarhar.
The anti-terrorist operations have claimed the lives of six Afghan soldiers, the Defense Ministry added.
Afghanistan is experiencing political, social and security instability, as the Taliban movement and other radical extremist organizations such as the IS, which is prohibited in many countries, including the United States and Russia, continue to stage attacks against civilian and state targets.
