Kazakh police in Almaty detained three people suspected of reporting a bomb scare at one of the polling stations, first deputy Interior Minister Marat Demeuov said on Sunday.

ASTANA (Sputnik) — On Sunday, Kazakhstan holds an early election to the lower house of parliament (Mazhilis) and a regular election to the local representative bodies. Earlier in the day, police received information about a bomb scare at the polling station in a school in Almaty.

"To date, the persons who made the call have almost been identified, there are three of them, they have been detained. The phonoscope examination is currently underway," Demeuov said at a news conference.

As the call about a bomb scare was made, the people were not evacuated from the polling station,. According to Demeuov, the evacuation was avoided as all the polling stations have been under the 24/7 police control and observation, and were exposed to security checks before the elections kicked off.
