Japan's ruling coalition plans to form a committee responsible for ratification of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free trade deal by mid-March, during the current session of the lower house of parliament, Japanese media reported Wednesday.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — The selection of the committee members is already underway, Kyodo news agency reported. The decision to form the committee was reportedly confirmed by Japan's Komeito party Secretary General Yoshihisa Inoue and President of the Liberal Democratic Party Sadakazu Tanigaki.

TPP Deal Signed in New Zealand
The issue is also being discussed with the opposition, the media reported.

In early February, the United States, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam signed the TPP agreement. Under the deal, a free trade zone was established between these 12 nations that constitute 40 percent of the world’s GDP.

The agreement is yet to be ratified by every participant.
