MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A magnitude 7.9 earthquake took place Wednesday off the coast of Indonesia, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said.
The earthquake took place 805 km (500 miles) from the Indonesian city of Padang, and could also be felt in Singapore, according to the EMSC.

The Indonesian Meteorological Agency (BMKG) issued an early tsunami warning for several provinces on Indonesia’s Sumatra island following the earthquake.
There have been no reports of damage or casualties so far, according to BMKG.
