MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On February 21, Fiji Islands have been hit by a major, category 5, tropical cyclone Winston. Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama called Winston "one of the most powerful" storms in recorded history.

"This new package of support brings the Australian Government's assistance for Fiji to $15 million," the statement read.

The statement added that the Australian Government would also provide support to respond to urgent health needs of the Fijian people and increase the medical contingent deployed at the Pacific nation.
